CAASPP Testing April 29th - May 31st!

CAASPP ImageCAASPP Testing Starts April 29th!

Each spring, students in grades three through eight participate in the California Assessment of
Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). This test is conducted across all schools and
our teachers have been preparing our students for these tests all year. This year, the tests are
scheduled from April 29-May 31 and your child's school will send more details regarding their
testing timelines.

Each student in grades 3-8 will participate in the following tests:
• Grades 3-8: Smarter Balanced Assessment in English Language Arts/Literacy
• Grades 3-8: Smarter Balanced Assessment in Mathematics
• Grades 5 and 8 ONLY: California Science Test, or CAST
• Grades 3-8: The summative California Alternate Assessments (CAAs) for
English, Mathematics, and Science are administered to eligible students

The Smarter Balanced Sumroative Assessments are online tests that measure what your child
knows and is able to do. The tests include many different types of questions that allow students
to interact with the test questions. Results help identify gaps in knowledge or skills early on so
your child can get the support he or she needs to be successful in school.

Visit the California Department of Education Parent Guides to understand about the English
and Math tests at www.cde.ca.gov/ta/tg/ca/parentguidetounderstand.asp.

You can practice with your student at www.caaspp.org/practice-and-trainin!!/index.html.

Please contact your school Principal if you have any concerns or questions with these tests. It
is strongly recommended that every student participate as results from these state tests are used
for acceleration and support services, such as GATE, Accelerated Math, and interventions.

At the Adelanto Elementary School District, our goal is for all students to achieve their full
potential. The CAASPP test results are one way we are able to better understand if we are
meeting that goal. Thank you for all you do to partner with us in your child's education. For
information regarding specific testing dates at your child 's school, please contact the school
directly.
