March 13, 2020

Dear AESD Staff and Families,

Due to the National State of Emergency declared by President Trump today, Adelanto Elementary School District has decided to close all of our schools for one week, from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20, 2020.

This closure is an extra measure of protection to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, or COVID-19. As of today at 3 pm, our schools, the Mountain and High Desert Districts, and the County of San Bernardino do not have any confirmed cases of the new coronavirus, but we are taking this step to help protect public health.

Currently we are planning for our students to return on Monday, March 23, 2020. We will continue to monitor the news given by our Federal and State government, along with our County Superintendent of Schools and San Bernardino County Department of Health. Based on developing guidance from these organizations, we may extend the school closure dates. If a decision to extend the school closures is made, it will be communicated to all staff, parents, and community members on Friday, March 20th by direct email, website announcement, and Peachjar email.

Students should stay home and minimize social contact as much as possible to keep caregivers and adult family members safe. Children have not been shown to be a high-risk group for serious illness from the virus. However, they can transmit the virus to the most vulnerable.

Thank you for your continued support.
